N = 2 Supersymmetric Qcd and Integrable Spin Chains: Rational Case N F < 2n C

The form of the spectral curve for 4d N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with matter fields in the fundamental representation of the gauge group suggests that its 1d integrable counterpart should be looked for among (inhomogeneous) sl(2) spin chains with the length of the chain being equal to the number of colours Nc. For N f < 2Nc the relevant spin chain is the simplest XXX-model, and this identification is in agreement with the known results in Seiberg-Witten theory.

We discuss the construction of the spectral curve and the action integrals for the " elliptic " XY Z spin chain of the length Nc. Our analysis can reflect the integrable structure behind the " elliptic " N = 2 supersymmetric QCD with N f = 2Nc .

We show that the baryon number of N = 2 supersymmetric QCD can be twisted in order to couple the topological field theory of non-abelian monopoles to Spin c-structures. To motivate the construction, we also consider some aspects of the twisting procedure as a gauging of global currents in two and four dimensions, in particular the rôle played by anomalies.
